10 new case, 25 samples confirm for Omicron in Himachal
Highly transmissible Omicron variant were analysed in the samples of ten new Covid patients belonged to Himachal Pradesh increasing the number of Omicron confirm cases to 25, a spokesperson of state Health Department confirmed in a press release on Friday.
Whole Genome sequencing of127 reports received from National Communicable Disease Centre, Delhi today found confirmed for Omicron variant as mutations have been found in ten samples.
The 10 omicron cases include two cases are from District Kangra and District Mandi. These samples were taken from international passengers.
The remaining eight Covid positive samples were sent from sentinel sites that belong to District Kangra.
These samples were taken from patients found positive from 15th Dec to 31st Dec 2021.
The Government Spokesperson further added that till now total 25 cases of Omicron have been found in the State.
” Initially omicron variant was reported only in international travellers, but now this variant has been reported from the community also.” report said.
He appealed to the public to follow 3Ws i.e. watch your distance (more than 2 meters), wash your hands and wear a mask.
