HP promoting seven new rafting & 22 paragliding sites
To extends the tourists mand recreational activities in the hill state
Jai Ram Govt has notified seven new rafting and 22 paragliding sites .
Rplying to a debate under Rule 101 in a motion moved by BJP MLA Mr Ramesh Dhwala under
private members day, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informed that water sports activities
are being developed at Pong Dam, Larji and Tattapani under ‘Nai Rahen, Nai Manjilen’ scheme.
Hailing the suggestion of number of legislators in the house he said that state already
organizing water sports activities on the Beas, Satluj, Ravi Rivers and Pong, Pandoh Dam
and Govinder Sagar in the state.
“The state had launched a new Tourism Policy 2019 under which theme bases tourism,
ensuring safety of tourist spots and manpower for the sector is being developed. The policy
encourage eco-tourism, snow, adventure, religious, health and film tourism in the state. ” CM said.
Beside this amenities are being developed on the south and north portals of Atal Tunnel Rohtang
to promote and facilitate tourist activities to decongest the tourist footfall to new areas.
Earlier, Jawalamukhi MLA Ramesh Dhwala said he had bought two boats for operations at Pong Dam and
Govind Sagar from his own MLA discretionary grant proved to be new recreational activities on the
tourists earning profit of Rs 3.50 lakh per month. He asid
The success of these proves that the state government can start such facilities for tourists at other water bodies in the state which will not only increase tourist activities but also provide employment opportunities to the locals.
He claimed that tourist activities in Dal Lake in Kashmir had increased after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu Kashmir.
