Dr Lal Singh conferred with prestigious Jamna lal Bajaj Award

Shimla-based NGO Himalayan Research Group convener Dr Lal Singh was Director conferred with the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Award for the use of Science and Technology for Rural Development 2021.
This is for the 1st time that a scientist from H.P has been selected for such a great honor.  Dr. Lal Singh, is Director of the Himalayan Research Group (HRG), our Non-Government Organization based at Shimla. 
 Dr.  Lal Singh belongs to Mandi district of the state and after graduating from Vallabh Government College, Mandi, he has done Ph.D in Botany.  

The award, considered to be an esteemed honor, is annually given for outstanding contribution in the field of application of science and technology for rural and tribal development, particularly for the benefit of the weaker sections of the society. 
This important award was instituted in 1978; and consists of a cash prize of Rs. 10 lac, a trophy, and a citation. It is first time in the state, a scientist has been selected for this prestigious award. 
Chief Minister Jai Ram  Thakur congratulated Dr Singh for this award and brought state pride.
This is an extraordinary achievement for a person belonging to rural areas, CM added.
