Closing ceremony of Ice Hockey Cup 2024 and Ice Speed Skates held at Ice Hockey Rink Kaza
Under the joint aegis of Ice Hockey Association Lahaul Spiti and Royal Enfield, the closing ceremony of Ice Hockey Cup 2024 and Ice Speed Skates was held at Ice Hockey Rink Kaza on Wednesday.
Ice Hockey Association of Himachal Pradesh President Abhay Dogra attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. On this occasion, the chief guest was also honored by the Ice Hockey Association of Lahaul Spiti and Royal Enfield. The chief lamas of the five Gompas were honored in the programme. Among them, Lamas were present from Kih, Kaza, Kungri, Dhankhar and Tabo.
Center Zone was the winner in the boys category in the Ice Hockey Spiti Cup 2024. Pin Zone was the runner up. With this, Todd Zone was the winner in the girls category. Along with this, the runner up was Sham Zone. Apart from this, winners and runners-up players in various categories of speed skates were honored. In the open boys of speed skates, Thinley Norbu was the winner and Tenzin Dorje was the runner-up. Apart from this, Tenzin Dekang was the winner and Angroop Chomo was the runner-up in the girls category. The chief guest honored all the players by giving them medals and certificates.
Chief guest Abhay Dogra said that Royal Infield and Ice Hockey Association of Lahaul Spiti have made a new beginning. Spiti Cup will now be organized here every year in a similar manner so that Spiti’s own players can get a better platform and good players can emerge. Ice hockey is a very difficult and expensive game. But through the administration and sponsorship, children are able to get ice hockey equipment here. Be it any competition, Spiti’s team never returns without a medal. This is a matter of pride for our Spiti. The team which has won the Spiti Cup will have to continue its performance like this in future also. The team which has lost will have to work hard and overcome its shortcomings.
Addressing the program, ADC Rahul Jain said that Spiti Cup is being organized for the first time. Royal Enfield has donated ice hockey equipment worth more than Rs 23 lakh to the children of Spiti. Six clubs have been formed in Spiti where children were given basic ice hockey training for more than a month. After this, teams were formed from these which are taking part in Spiti Cup. Teams from Losar, Hal, Kaza, Shichling, Lalung and Saganam clubs are included.
MLA Ravi Thakur said that he congratulates all the officials of Royal Enfield and Ice Hockey Association Lahaul Spiti for the successful organization of Spiti Cup. The state government is providing all possible assistance for winter sports. In this series, for the first time this kind of Ice Hockey Cup has been organized in Spiti. The state government is working at a fast pace towards developing ice hockey infrastructure in Spiti.
Best Boys Player Phuchonk Bangchuk and Best Girls Player Tenjin Digyong were also honored at the closing ceremony. All the coaches including head coach Amit Belbal were honored with mementos. Padma Nadol, Panma Chomo, Tenzin Chodon, Tsering Dorje, Tsering Yangchuk, Tenzin, Tenzin Dolma, Tenzin Tomdan, Prashant Thakur and Jomkit were given ice hockey equipment. This equipment has been given by Mayank Bhojne, Kinjal Patel, and Sudhir Ahuja on behalf of Himalaya Experiences.
On this occasion, SDM Harsh Amarendra Negi, Tehsildar Bhumika Jain, BDO Dixit Rana, SDO Electricity Department Piyush and all the heads of departments were present.
