SW Monsoon vigorously active in HP : IMD
South West Monsoon system was vigorously active in the state during past 24 hrs with spells of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in district of Kangra, Una, Chamba and Mandi, Indian Meteorological Deportment said in press release issued here along with data of monsoon.
Met Office said that Shahpur in Kangra district had 264 mm rainfall till 0830 hrs today in last 24 hrs
Dharamshala-230 mm, Palampur-210, mm, Nagrota Suriyan & Guler-154 mm each, Gagal-149 mm.
In Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district had 136 mm rainfall, Jatton Barrage-135 mm, Jogindernagar in
Mandi 124 mm, Baijnath in Bilaspur 115 mm, Kheri in Mandi 96 mm, Una-88 MM, Solan-79, mm
Sujanpur Tira-72 mm, Mandi-66 mm, Udaipur, in Lahaul Spiti and Shillaro in Shimla 60 mm each,
Tissa in Chamba 58 mm, Kotkhai in Shimla 57 mm, Rajgarh in Sirmaur Narkanda in Shimla &
Dehra Gopipur in Kangra 54 mm each, Dalhousie jof Chamba 50 mm, Kandaghat in Solan & Rohru
in Shimla -49 mm each and Ghamroor in Kangra 48. mm .
Minimum temperatures decreased by 1 to 2 0C & Maximum temperatures decreased by 4 to 5 degrees during last 24 hrs. However Minimum temperatures were 1 to 2 degrees below normal & Maximum
temperatures were 5 to 60C below normal..
In the weekly monsoon season state got 44 per cent excess rainfall as compared to normal rainfall of 61. 67 mm state have cumulative monsoon rain of about 88.9 mm..
Kangra district which is facing flood like situation in many areas recorded 90 per cent excess monsoon rain in the last week of this month, Kangra district received around 255.3 mm average rainfall in last seven days compared to
134.2 mm normal.
Similarly Sirmour district also got 71 p c excess rainfall as district reciived 187.5 mm rain compared to 109.5 mm normal, Hamirpur got 62 pc and Solan 53 pc excess rainfall. Shimla district had also 46 pc excess monsoon rianfall during last week and Bilaspur and Mandi had 40 pc excess rainfall .However Una recorded 37 per cent deficient rainfall
and Lahaul Spiti 15 pc and Kinnuar 14 pc respectively. .
IThe Met Office issuing next week forest said that Monsoon would be active in HP during next 36 hrs or so with decrease in rainfall activities for subsequent two days. Rainfall activity is likely to increase around 17th July 2021 with spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall in lower and middle hills.
Issuing the Forecast for Catchment of Sutlej ,Beas and Ranjit Sagar Dam valid till 0830 hrs of 17th July 2021, the Met Office said that Moderate Rainfall activity likely to occur in lower catchment areas of Sutlej and Ranjit Sagar for next two to three days. The rainfall activity is likely to increase from around July 17, 2021.
