Himachal Forest Department to plant 1.4 crore saplings across the State
Forest Department Himachal Pradesh has set a target to plant 1.4 crore saplings throughout the state.
Forest Department’s DFO Publicity Shri Aneesh Sharma informed PIB that the Department has planned various plantation activities for the current year. He said a plantation drive with local community was organized in which local community was involved to participate at the pre-designated 246 sites throughout the state. Around 10 lac tree saplings were planted during the drive.
The spokesperson added that more than 100 sites were also designated to plant tree saplings with the association of the Red Cross Societies in the state. He said that the most important initiative of this year is to distribute 51 saplings to each ward member of every Municipalities and Panchayats, so that locals of the area can participate in the cause of plantations.
Shri Sharma further added that NGOs, Local Communities like youth clubs, Mahila Mandals, Nature clubs, environmentalists etc. are also being encouraged to participate in such activities
