High reaches receive first spell of major Snowfall Mercury plummet

High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experiencing first major spell of snowfall since last night plummeting Mercury by couple of degrees the state, Indian Metalogical department said.


Hansa in Lahaul Spiti recorded 2.5 cm Snowfall by Met Office. The Reports are coming here that gateway of Lahaul Spiti district, 13050 feet high Rohtang pass, Kunzum pass, Saptarshi hills, Lady of Keylong, Baralacha and Goshal hills of Lahaul Spiti, Kinner-Kailash and Shrikhand Kailash ranges of Kinnuar, Dhaulpur ranges of Kangra and Manimahesh ranges of Chamba recorded fresh snowfall.

Heavy rainfall are also recorded in the high reaches of state as Sangla in Kinnuar had 36.8 mm rainfall, Chopal and Khadrala of Shimla 31 mm, Tinder in Kullu 28.7 mm, Bhuntar 25 mm, Tourist resort Manali and Kufri 23 mm, Shimla 16.8 mm. Palampur in Kangra and Sundernagar in Mandi 17.3 mm and Poanta-Shaib 16 mm. Intermittent rainfall also recorded in many places of state which is continue.


Minimum temperature plunged by couple of degrees as Kaza was one degrees, Keylong (Lahaul Spiti) three degrees, Kalpa in Kinnuar 4.9 degrees, Kufri 9.6 degrees Manali 10 degrees, Dalhousie 10.5 degrees, Shimla 11.8 degrees, Solan 14 degrees degrees and Bhuntar 14.6 degrees.
Minimum temperature of Dharmshala was 13 degrees, Palampur 15 degrees, Chamba 15.3 degrees Sundernagar 15.7 degrees, Mandi 17 degrees, Kangra 17.4 degrees, Nahan 18.3 degrees and Una 19.4 degrees.


The Met Office forecast rain, thunderstorm or Snowfall in few places of state in next 24 hrs. Warning of heavy rainfall also made for isolated places in the state.
