19yrs old girl first victim of Delta plus in HP213 others infected by Delta variant
Delta plus COVID 19 case reported in a 19 year old girl in the State of Himachal for the first time and report of victims mother also sent for genome sequencing to trace the origin and entry route of this highly contagious strains of Covid-19.
The Government spokesperson informed that 1113 samples were sent to National Centre for Disease Control Delhi for whole genome sequencing to find out any variant of concern amongst the positive cases in Himachal Pradesh.
On 28th of June the result of 193 samples were received in which no case of Delta plus was reported.
He further informed that National Center For Communicable diseases has communicated the result of 826 samples.
As per the latest report received one case of Delta plus of a 19 year old female from Palampur, District Kangra has been reported. This sample for the whole genome sequencing was taken in the month of
May ,21. The samples from the contacts of Delta plus victim and her family members including her mother have been sent for whole genome sequencing.
Out of 826 samples of Covid case 218 cases were found infected by Delta strain, one South African strain, 111 UK strain, 9 Kappa strains and 36 other mutations of concerns have been reported amongst these samples.
The reports of 287 samples are still awaited.
The Government spokesperson appealed that the potential danger of COVID 19 remains.
Therefore, the people should ensure strict COVID appropriate behavior norms to prevent and mitigate the third wave of COVID 19 pandemic.
