Peach valley Rajgarh supplying bulk of juicy stone fruit

Rajgarh region of Sirmaur district also know as Peach valley currently supplying bluck of stone fruits to North Indian fruit markets in  the country.  Every day from Peach Valley Rajgarh, boxes of peach, apricot, palm are reaching various mandis of the country.  According to famous gardener Sherjung Chauhan, peach carate  is being sold at Rs 15 hundred in Solan and other fruit markets, due to which the gardener is likely to get good profit.  He said that due to strong winds and hailstorm, especially apples and peaches have suffered a lot.  Despite this, the crop of peach and palm has been fine on average.  According to the sources of the department, more than two crore damage has been assessed in Rajgarh, Sangrah and Pachhad blocks.

The peach of Rajgarh is considered very famous for its excellent quality, taste, and size, due to which there is a different identity in the country by the name of Peach Valley of Rajgarh.  According to departmental sources, an average of six thousand metric tons of peaches are produced every year in Peach Valley Rajgarh.  This information has been given by Dr. Devendra Atri, the subject matter expert of the Horticulture Department, Rajgarh.  He said  that there are peach orchards on about three thousand hectares of land in Rajgarh area, in which July Albert variety of peach is produced the most.  About 15 thousand metric tonnes of fruit is produced in Rajgarh Valley every year, in which six thousand metric tonnes of peaches, 3580 metric tonnes of plums, four thousand metric tonnes of apples and 12 hundred metric tonnes of apricot are produced. Progressive gardener Sherjung Chauhan says that this year due to hailstorm, peaches were tainted due to which the gardeners have suffered a lot.  Told that till now the early variety of peach has arrived in the market and in addition to July Elverta variety, the season of ‘Plum Khumani’ has also started.  He told that due to untimely rains and hailstorm during the last year, the peach crop was affected by tufrina disease, due to which the peach crop was destroyed.  Let us tell you that now the trend of the gardeners of Rajgarh is moving towards the production of low altitude apples.  Last year, in the winter season, hundreds of apple saplings were planted by the farmers in their fields.  Keep in mind that the apple of Rajgarh reaches the mandis of the country first, due to which the gardeners get good prices.
