Kissan conventions of Tomato growers convened at Solan: HKS
Kissan Convetntions of Tomato Growers were held in Solan today which was participated by large number of royts from Solan, Shimla, Sirmaru and Mandi district.
This was stated by the Himachal Pradsesh Kissan Sabha President Dr Kuldeep Singh Tanwar in a pressstatement issued here today.
Mr Tanwar said that Tomato growers representatives from different areas did a follow up of the commitments made by the APMC Solan on Jun 28 with them.
The farmers were demanding to facilitates sale of Tomatoes by weight not by ‘Crates’., To ensurestability of rates and to check variability of rate in same day. To stop illegal ‘cuts’in every bag of different vegetables , to expand the area of Sabji Mandi, more of sheds and auctions counters and to provide minimum facilities namely subsidised canteen, water coolers,Toilets , Dormitories etc
Mr Tanwar who is also known as father of Himachal literacy campaign informedthat next meeting of the growers representatives of Tomatoes, Vegetables from different areas of Solan, SirmaurShimla, Mnadi (Karsog) would be convened in Solan Sabji Mandi on July 22.
The off-season, fruit and agriculture contributes to 15 per cent to the state GDP and it is the main vocation of most house hold of the state. The Capsicum and Tomatoes are being sold in entire north India form these four districtshave high demands in the rainy season.
