Delhi to Shimla flight operations to be resumed on 6th September, 2022
Chief Secretary R.D. Dhiman presided over a meeting with Alliance Air Authorities through Video Conferencing regarding the issue of resuming the flight operations on Delhi-Shimla-Delhi route here today. Important decisions were taken in the meeting with a view to start flight operations in the State.
Chief Secretary said that fixed Wing Air Craft ATR-42 (600) of Alliance Air would be used for resuming the flights from Delhi to Shimla on 6th September, 2022 after a gap of two and half years and further connecting Shimla with main tourist destinations Kullu and Dharamshala.
He said that flights between Delhi-Shimla-Delhi route would operate seven days a week and between Shimla-Kullu-Shimla four times a week and between Dharamshala-Shimla three times a week.
Chief Secretary said that the State Government would appropriately underwrite 50 percent of seats on Shimla-Dharamshala and Shimla-Kullu routes. In-principle approval was conveyed for the same. Detailed modalities for the same shall be worked out by the Tourism Department in consultation with the Finance Department.
The in-principle approval was granted by the state government to start the flight operations and a MoU will be signed between the Department of Tourism and Alliance Air shortly, he added.
CEO Alliance Air Vineet Sood made a detailed presentation and apprised about the start of flight operations. He said that Alliance Air has procured a brand new fixed Wing Air Craft ATR-42 (600) which would be used for resuming the flights.
